Be Careful With Your Webcam

These days you’d be hard pressed to find a home without a computer inside of it.  And all of these computers most likely come standard with a webcam.  And while I know the internet age is convenient, there are some things we need to be aware of, especially when it comes to using your webcam.  Keep in mind that although it’s cool to live in the day and age where you can log onto Skype and begin talking with someone on the other side of the world, there are some rules to follow in order to keep yourself safe.

Below are my top 3 favorite webcam rules to follow:

1.  Be Fully Clothed – I don’t care if you are talking to your  best friend from kindergarten who you completely trust, don’t let yourself get caught on a webcam wearing nothing but your underwear.

2.  Keep The Background Basic – You don’t want any identifying characteristics in your webcam shot that will give away too many specific details about yourself; keep it very generic.

3.  Know Who You’re Talking To – Be leary of using a webcam to communicate with a stranger, there are too many crazy folks in the world for you not to do your due dilligence before getting too intimate with someone you just met online.

Keep these three things in mind and you should have no problem riding the webcam wave – without wiping out!

Let LiveCam Take You Everywhere

The webcam (or livecam) can be used in place of the telephone in today’s times. There was once a time when caller id was the latest and greatest in terms of technology. These days, the webcam has become one of those everyday items that is no longer rare. If you want to instant message or have a chat with a friend on the other side of the world, the livecam can get it done for you.
What I love is that the livecam is that it is no longer just being used by people sitting at home staring at their computers. The livecam has done an about face! We’ve now taken the camera and turned it away from ourselves out onto the rest of the world.
Have you thought about how cool it is to that you can watch the U.S. Open on your computer from Australia thanks to the livecam that was in New York? And not only that, but the livecam can be used by Australians who are looking to travel to other cities. Check out the weather in Port Douglas; or what about checking the livecam posted atop the Bell Tower in Adelaide.
I don’t know about you, but I feel pretty fortunate to be alive during times like these.
